Mailbits.com operates a variety of opt-in newsletters, including trivia and freebie of the day. Mailbits.com also has added and expanded their Tell-A-Friend service that allows you to promote your site and earn money at the same time.Currently, Mailbits is only paying affiliates for use of their Tell-A-Friend Service. The newsletter portion of the affiliate program is being re-designed according to Mailbits.
Program Details:
Their Tell-A-Friend service is similar in functionality to several others on the web, but with one major difference. Like other services, Mailbits.com allows you to add a simple graphic to your web site allowing your visitors to tell their friends about your site. It is an extremely easy way to build traffic to your site. What makes Mailbits.com special is that you actually get paid every time one of your visitors uses the service to tell a friend about your site. Currently, this works out to $0.15 (down from their previous $0.25 commission) each time one of your visitors tells a friend about your site. How does Mailbits.com do it? They include a variety of offers in the tell-a-friend form, each of which earns Mailbits a commission themselves. The Mailbits program has a couple of other nice features. First of all, they almost always pay a monthly bonus to all affiliates. This often ranges from 3-25%. Mailbits also occasionally offers monthly incentives by raising (or even doubling) the rates they pay on newsletter and Tell-a-Friend subscribers. Additionally, although your visitors briefly leave your site, it only will take them a few minutes to sign up. After they have subscribed, the confirmation page contains a link back to your web site. It also contains a link for them to join the affiliate program themselves, of course, using your affiliate code, helping you earn more referrals. One small thing to note however, is that in between the sign-up page for their newsletter, and the final confirmation page, there is another page asking about interests. This is for an opt-in mailing service which Mailbits.com earns a referral from. This may slightly reduce the number of visitors who make it to the final confirmation page, and the link back to your site. However, it will not affect your income since this page is only displayed after your visitor has already signed up. Checks are issued monthly, once commissions reach a very reasonable $50. A variety of creative banners and graphics are available, and setting up links is very easy. Email newsletter ads are also acceptable, and sample copy is provided. Online commissions reports are available detailing traffic and subscribers you have referred on either a daily or monthly basis.

[Note: See comments at the beginning of this review.]A wide variety of feedback has been received on the Mailbits program, most of it very positive. Like some other pay-per-email programs, Mailbits has been reported to be some web site's top earner. The tell-a-friend part of the program works out particularly well for sites that have content that is frequently passed around by friends or in the office (humor, etc.). Recently, Mailbits has suspended their newsletter program and dropped the payouts on their Tell-A-Friend. This has resulted in a number of complaints. However, one recent visitor has commented that they have earned over $15,000 from the program, and were treated as royalty by the Mailbits staff. As such, this program maintains it's rating, giving Mailbits the benefit of the doubt that the newsletter program will soon be revamped.
