Advertising.com

ClickQuick.com Rating: $$$ out of $$$$

Company Overview:
Advertising.com AdNetwork is a banner advertising network which allows webmasters to easily begin earning from their web site by hosting pay-per-click ads, and recently some ads that pay on a per impression basis.

Program Details:
What is unique about AdNetwork is that they use an 'intelligent modeling system' to track which ads displayed on your site have had the greatest response, and then display more of those ads. This gives preferential treatment to ads that have resulted in the highest click-through rate and payout, working over time to maximize revenue potential.

According to AdNetwork, the longer an affiliate stays with the network, the better the network can decide which ads to display based on past performance. And since the advertisers also benefit from this optimization, they are willing to pay above average click-through rates (see below). If the tracking system works as well as claimed, this type of system could provide unique advantages over other similar programs.

This type of arrangement also may remove many of the more tedious aspects of administering advertising on your site. Instead of having to individually code ads on all of your pages, you are simply given a single HTML code for all of your pages. You can place up to 4 ads on any given page, and each 'slot' will be filled automatically with a different ad.

Another advantage Advertising.com offers is the availability of a wide variety of ad sizes. These range from the standard 468x60 banner, to 88x31 buttons, and about four other sizes in between. They also offer interstitial ads as well as the ability to earn commissions from text links.

Since the AdNetwork system should allow both host sites and advertisers to receive a more targeted ad delivery, current AdNetwork advertisers have been willing to pay above average click-through rates, genrerally ranging from $0.10 to $0.25 per-click, with an average of about $0.12. Advertising.com also recently added some ads that pay on a per impression basis. With this format, you receive a small commission each time an ad is displayed, whether or not your visitor clicks. These ads generally are in the $0.50-1 CPM range, meaning you earn $0.50 to $1 for every 1000 ads that are displayed. Interstitial ads pay somewhat higher.

It should be noted that Advertising.com is selective in what site it accepts into it's network however, so not all applicants are approved or will earn you the referral commission.

Online, detailed tracking allows you to view the performance of the ads and the AdNetwork system itself. Statistics provided go beyond the expected to include impressions, click-throughs, click-through rate, referring URLs, daily totals, and totals by advertiser. Advertising.com's online reports were also recently updated to allow you greater control in what date ranges you want to check your statistics for.

Visitor Feedback:
Advertising.com has an excellent overall record of issuing checks promptly each month (usually within 15-20 days of the end of the previous month) once $25 in commissions have been reached.

However, in the last few months, I have received complaints about Advertising.com's ability to maintain high per-click commissions, as well as a very drastic drop in the CPM they are able to pay affiliates on a per impression basis. It seems that the market pressures on banner advertising are having a negative impact on Advertising.com, and several ClickQuick.com visitors have reported dropping the program in favor of FastClick, ValueClick or others.

Advertising.com also recently dropped their two-tier referral program, raising a few complaints.
