Basically, the idea is that small businesses and individuals will be able to pool their purchases together to receive volume discounts. Program Details:
The SHOP2gether.com affiliate program is two-tier, and operates on a pay-per-sale model. Each time you make a referral who becomes a SHOP2gether.com member, and who goes on to make a purchase, you will receive 20% commissions on the service fee that SHOP2gether.com collects for managing the marketplace. These service fees range from $5 to $250 per sale according to their web site, which would result in a $1 to $50 commission.Additionally, SHOP2gether.com offers the opportunity to earn follow-up commissions for 1 year. This means that if you refer a member, you will earn 20% commissions on all purchases they make for an entire year, even if they do not visit your site again or follow your affiliate link. Also, through December 31, 2000, affiliates are able to earn a $10 referral bonus for each new member they refer, even if they do not go on to make a purchase. Since SHOP2gether.com is also two-tier, if members you refer become affiliates themselves you will earn additional commissions equal to 25% of what they make. For example if you refer an affiliate that refers a sale worth a $10 service fee to SHOP2gether.com, that affiliate would earn $2 (20% of $10). Since you referred the affiliate, you would then earn $0.50 (25% of $2). Like the first tier, you will earn 25% second tier commissions on for 1 full year for each affiliate you refer. Although the market for this program is a bit targeted, and will mainly be of interest to sites that cater to small businesses, the program offers excellent potential thanks to the opportunity to earn follow-up commissions. If SHOP2gether.com can offer enough value to members to retain their business over an extended period, the affiliate program could be quite lucrative once an established referral base is formed. About the only downside for the program is that checks are only issued quarterly, and once commissions reach $100.
