Program Reviews: Pay-per-Lead

Food.com

ClickQuick.com Rating: $$$ out of $$$$

Company Overview:
Ever see the movie The Net, where Sandra Bullock orders a pizza over the Internet, never having to leave her computer? That scene is the inspiration behind Food.com. Food.com offers a service that allows busy individuals or families to order pre-cooked dinners from a variety of restaurants, and have it delivered where and when they want it.

Program Details:
Food.com's affiliate program has been set up to pay commissions in three ways. First, they pay $0.10 for every click-through you deliver to their web site. Then, if the person registers (for free) with Food.com, you receive an additional $1 commission. If the visitor goes on to place an order, you receive an additional $5.

The program is administered by LinkShare, which provides tracking and online commission reporting, as well as automatic link generation. Checks are issued monthly, once commissions reach $50.

So, how extensive are their listings of restaurant? I live in a metropolitan area of about 6 million people. Within a 30 mile drive, no restaurants were found that provide delivery, but 37 were found that offer take-out, including a variety of restaurants not normally known for providing take-out service. That said, I will let you draw your own conclusions, but feel free to perform the same test by entering your address on their home page.
